Bringing salmon into the classroom, and students into the outdoors

Salmon in the Schools is one of the most valuable environmental education programs we have to offer young kids in the Pacific Northwest, as it allows students to witness first-hand the salmon lifecycle as well as get outdoors to explore salmon habitat.

Program Metrics

In the 2021-22 school year, 15 Washington State nonprofit partners brought Salmon in the Schools programming to over 8,700 students in 109 schools across Washington State.

Get Involved

This programming is made possible through a state-wide collaborative partnership, as well as through all of the participating schools and educators. We’re always looking for new partners and schools to expand the Salmon in the Schools program. Salmon in the Schools is Grant Funded

Grant funding for Salmon in the Schools is provided by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). This proviso is for Washington Schools that receive LAP (Learning Assistance Program) services.
